On the Go Extra: Away We Go with Jen Andrade of the Mom Reviews

Jen Andrade is a stay-at-home mom with a love for travel blogging. Since she began writing The Mom Reviews more than five years ago, she’s traveled to Cancun-Riviera Maya, Hawaii, Napa Valley and more. On the Go: A Magazine for Travelers met up with Andrade to find out her travel favorites.

Favorite type of vacation: Adventure or relaxation?

A little of both.  I’m not a huge risk taker, but I like to zip-line and try new things.  If you don’t relax just a little, then it’s not vacation!

Best vacation/experience you’ve ever had?

Waimea Falls Kauai Hawaii

Jen Andrade of The Mom Reviews explored natural wonders in Hawaii like Waimea Falls on Kauai!

One of the best was last year when I went on a family press trip with my eight-year-old daughter (she was seven then) to Kauai.  The one-on-one time in such a beautiful spot was so memorable. We learned to surf together, sailed together, rode in a helicopter for the first time together, and met the most wonderful people!

Dream vacation destination?

Each time I go on vacation it’s pretty dreamy, but something high on the bucket list…?  Probably staying in an over-the-water hut in Fiji.

Favorite hotel?

Right now, it’s the Kenwood Inn and Spa in wine country. It’s romantic and beautiful, the restaurant is amazing, and the service is impeccable!

Favorite restaurants/dish?

Mai Tai Drink

Mai Tai is synonymous with island vacations.

The gnocchi at Casanova in Carmel by the Sea, California! It melts in your mouth!

Favorite vacation drink?

Hands down, a Mai Tai anywhere!

Favorite vacation activity?

Sailing.  The wind in your hair, the water spritzing you as you hang over the rails, the scenery!

I do want to try paddle boarding, that looks relaxing but with a hint of exercise!

Sandals Travel Blogger

“You have to feel the sand in your toes,” says Jen Andrade.

Pool or beach?

Both! You have to feel the sand in your toes, but a gorgeous heated pool can be luxurious as well.

Socks or no socks with sandals?

Haha!  No socks with sandals.

Which destinations that you’ve first experienced alone, have you returned with your children?

Interesting question.  Because it seems as every next trip I go on is new to me, nowhere yet!  I think the next place could be Florida (Orlando).
