Around the Airlines: New Flight Services and Amenities

Delta Air Lines will launch daily nonstop service between Manchester International Airport and New York John F. Kennedy International Airport from June 2, 2015. The airline will also begin flying its first nonstop service between London-Heathrow and Newark Liberty International Airport effective March 29, 2015. Both routes will be operated in conjunction with joint venture partner Virgin Atlantic.

Southwest Airlines filed an application with the U.S. Department of Transportation to add its first destination in Central America with daily roundtrip service between Baltimore/Washington Thurgood Marshall International Airport and Juan Santamaria International Airport in San Jose, Costa Rica, beginning March 7, 2015. The added service is subject to regulatory approval.

American Airlines will offer daily flight service between the U.S. and Grenada beginning Dec. 2. The airline currently operates five weekly fights from Miami to Grenada, but will be increasing frequency to once daily in December.

On Sept. 16, United Airlines launched its Mercedes-Benz tarmac transportation service at Denver International Airport, meaning the airline now offers its chauffeured service at all of its U.S. hub airports (Chicago, Houston, New York/Newark, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Washington Dulles). The Mercedes-Benz tarmac transportation service provides United’s top frequent flyers with a car service across the tarmac to their connecting flight.
