Zip Lining Around Costa Rica (VIDEO)

In lieu of our Costa Rica week, we decided to profile one of our Business Development Managers, Alex Kekovski who recently traveled down to Costa Rica and zip lined around the Arenal Volcano. The tour ran by Sky Trek consisted of a series of zip lines suspended over 1,500 feet in the air, reaching speeds upwards of 60 mph. A truly exhilarating experience, the views that you’ll experience seem otherworldly. One of the main reasons to travel to a different country is to take in a foreign land and zip lining is a fun-filled way to view Costa Rica in a way few people ever have the chance to.

Here is Alex’s POV video shot with his GoPro camera!

What is the best part about zip-lining around the Arenal Volcano?
I really can’t pick a best part. The views were spectacular, the zip lines were massive, and the distance from you on the line to the ground below was breathtaking.

Hanging 1,500 feet over the forest must be nerve-racking, did you have any reservations?
No; not at all. I guess I’m what they call an “Adrenaline Junkie.”  As soon as the line operator said I was clear, I took off without hesitation.

Describe the view from the zip line.
All you see is a lush, green jungle all around you. The Arenal Volcano is in the distance and it’s one of the most amazing views you’ll ever see.

Did you have any interaction with wildlife during the zip line tour?
Yes! There were white-faced monkeys, howler monkeys and this strange looking animal called a Coati, which is also known as a Brazilian aardvark.

What kind of person would you recommend zip lining for? Is it something everyone can enjoy?
The great thing about the tour is you can zip line in tandem with a trained professional. My group had a wide range of people of all ages. Some went in tandem, but most did not. The oldest in the group was 79 and she zipped down all by herself!

Would you go back and do it again?
I would definitely go back and do it again. It was one of the most exhilarating experiences and I would feel I’m doing myself an injustice if I didn’t do it again.
