Chichen Itza

Imagine taking in this gorgeous sight when you’re away!

Tourists usually visit this Mayan site as a day trip, as it is located over 100 miles away (3 hour drive) from Cancun on the Yucatan Peninsula. These Mayan ruins, at the height of the empire, were the centerpiece of Mayan pilgrimage for over 1,000 years. It is the number one tourist destination in Mexico, and has been recently named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World by the New7Wonders Foundation. Chichen Itza occupies about 2.5 square miles and every inch is rich in ancient history.

The signature structure to visit is the Pyramid of Kukulkan, otherwise known as El Castillo, as it is the center of the Mayan site and sores almost 100 feet in the air. The Observatory, otherwise known as El Caracol, and the Great Ballcourt are two other structures that have to be visited during your time at Chichen Itza. This Mayan city is made for photography with breathtaking structures of a faded power providing a scenic background.

Cancun Underwater Museum

Dive into the deep and view this one-of-a-kind museum!

Built to draw some of the 750,000 yearly underwater adventurers away from the Manchones reef allowing time for it to recover, the Cancun Underwater Museum, also known as MUSA (Museo Subacuatico de Arte), is the newest Cancun attraction. Over 400 sculptures have been sunk between nine and 20 feet deep in a 1,600 square foot area, creating an underwater playground for snorkelers and SCUBA divers alike. Travelers that may not be as fond of the water have the option of riding along in the SubSee Explorer, a half-boat/half-submarine water craft.
