Elephant Hills isn’t a resort. It’s a naturally-enriched experience in Thailand. Located in the oldest rainforest in the world, Khao Sok, Elephant Hills embraces the breathtakingly exquisite terrain with two unique camps, soft nature adventures, and visits to the nearby wildlife sanctuaries. Plus, as Thailand’s first luxury tented jungle camps and the world’s only floating luxury tented camp, every worldwide traveler will experience an adventure unlike anywhere else.
Elephant Hills, the resort
Combining the camp idea of African National Parks with the stunning surroundings of Khao Sok, Elephant Hills offers two camps—the Elephant Camp, comprised of 35 luxury tents, and the Rainforest Camp, sporting 10 luxury tents that float on Cheow Larn Lake. All tents offer wooden floors, comfortable, normal beds, electricity, and an en-suite bathroom with a heated shower and a western-style toilet.
After a satisfying day of adventure, guests can unwind at the Jungle Explorer’s Bar or in the swimming pool with a view of the magnificent limestone cliff backdrop. Guests can also share pictures and their new memories with complimentary WiFi while sipping their favorite drink or savoring delectable dishes in the semi-open-air restaurant.
Elephant Hills offers true “luxury,” and is a member of the TripAdvisor Hall of Fame 2015 with five consecutive Certificates of Excellence. It is currently ranked within the top 10 luxury hotels and top 5 best service hotels in Thailand, and is one of the top 25 resorts in all of Asia.
Located in Southern Thailand, The Elephant Camp is only a two hours’ drive from Phuket airport, and all transfers to and from Elephant Hills are taken care of by Elephant Hills and are included in the tour package prices.
Elephant Hills, the exploration
The resort boasts Soft Adventure Nature Tours, which are tour packages that include accommodation, transfers to and from the camps, all meals, all activities, and a TAT-licensed, English-speaking Thai tour guide. (Not included are alcoholic beverages and soft drinks.)

Tours include discovery adventures into Khao Sok National Park with jungle treks, wildlife excursions, paddle boat or traditional wooden Junk rides, and mangrove explorations. However, the absolute highlight of any tour is the Elephant Experience. Elephant Hills is home to 12 Asian elephant ladies, and during this experience, guests wash, feed, and interact with the gentle giants. The resort does not offer elephant rides or similar.
Other adventures include seeing the limestone formations in the lake and in Khao Sok, which are part of an ancient coral reef that stretched from Borneo to Guilin (China), the largest reef ever known to man. These formations are of the same origin as Halong Bay in Vietnam and just as stunning – but by far not as overrun.
Guests can also see wildlife in Khao Sok with the help of camera traps. Recent sightings include wild Asian elephants, Gaurs (rare Asian Oxes), Malayan sun bears, Malayan tapirs, five white-handed gibbon families, Asian golden cats, great hornbills, wild boars, macaques, otters, several troops of macaques and dusky langurs (leaf monkeys) and much more! After all, experts believe Khao Sok to have a higher biodiversity than the amazon!
