So many resorts in the Caribbean offer sterilized experiences that don’t reflect the region you’ve visiting, but if you’re traveling to the Caribbean, then most certainly you want to experience the Caribbean culture. At Elite Island Resorts, you’ll experience “Authentic Caribbean” on Antigua, Saint Lucia, Barbados, Palm Island, and The Grenadines.
And Elite Island Resorts maintains its “elite” status with resorts updates. Here’s a rundown of their latest, with more to come in 2016.
Long Bay Beach Club
On Tortola, you’ll find a new beachfront pool for you to enjoy the lovely Caribbean weather during the day, and at night, enjoy an intimate dinner at The Verandah Restaurant, an elegant dining establishment on an upstairs terrace. Located in an 18th century sugar mill, this fine venue serves traditional Caribbean dishes paired with fine wines. Also new at the resort is a beachside Spa Pavilion, an on-site BVI Scuba dive kiosk (SUP, boogie board, and snorkel rentals, plus diving lessons and trips) and in-room check-in.
St. James’s Club & Villas
With a beach club atmosphere, St. James’s Club & Villas in Antigua boasts a buffet area at Rainbow Garden Restaurant, but upgrades can be found throughout the resort, such as new chairs in all restaurant areas; updated décor in Jacaranda Lounge, The Docksider Grill, and Coco Beach Restaurant and Bar; as well as resurfaced tennis courts. The resort is also getting a new state-of-the-art fitness center with a yoga deck.
The Verandah Resort & Spa
A favorite honeymoon resort, The Verandah Resort & Spa may have Antigua’s largest freeform pool, but you’ll enjoy its dual beaches, which have also been enlarged. New “water hammock” floating loungers are a great place to relax with a cold drink, while pillowtop mattresses in all Superior Waterfront rooms add even more comfort to your stay. Grab a quick bite at the Wadadli Snack Shack grill on Rasta Beach and a quick round at the resurfaced mini golf course.
Galley Bay Resort & Spa
This Antigua resort celebrates the natural Caribbean landscape with 40 acres of tropical gardens and a three-quarter-mile powdery beach, the perfect setting for new beachfront yoga and Pilates classes. A new turtle sanctuary for tortoises and an Environmental, Health, and Safety Coordinator make this one of the most environmentally friendly resorts on the island. Daily popsicles by the pool and beach, weekly Silent cinema on the beach, and complimentary resort-wide Wi-Fi make it one of the most fun.
St. James’s Club Morgan Bay
With the spectacular Pitons coastal peaks and the only “drive-in” volcano in the world, St. Lucia is an amazing island to visit, and St. James’s Club Morgan Bay is the place to stay with a new resort catamaran, “Calypso Cat,” offering day trips. Plus, the resort has a new décor at the Palms Restaurant and Le Jardin; new menu options at the seaside grill Morgan’s Pier, at the pizza restaurant Tree Tops, and the beachfront restaurant Bambou. Don’t forget to grab a cup of joe at the new coffee shop Choc Bay Café, and if you don’t want to run on the beach, then try out the new state-of-the-art fitness studio or Pilates and yoga classes.
The Club, Barbados Resort & Spa
Perfect for honeymooners and romantics, the boutique-style Club offers relaxation, entertainment, and brand new décor for both Enid’s Restaurant and the Rum Shop Bar. (Barbados is quite famous for its rum!) New upscale furniture in the guestrooms create a relaxing abode, and a resurfaced tennis court is the place to test your skills.
Palm Island Resort
This intimate resort, located on its own private island, only has 43 guest rooms and suites, and now offers new décor in restaurant areas, new lunch and dinner menus, and new state-of-the-art gym equipment. Try one of their new excursions, like deep sea fishing, a champagne sunset cruise, natural trails, and fitness walks. New watersports equipment including “Zayaks” are also on hand, and the resort continues to enhance its sustainability initiatives, which made it a Green Globe certified resort again.
