More than 100 Delta Flights Cancelled at LGA; Others See Three-Hour Delays

More than 100 flights have been cancelled and others are seeing delays in excess of three hours at LaGuardia Airport this morning following a major power outage in Terminal C, reports Eyewitness News New York.

Delta Air Lines has seen the most cancellations with more than 119 flights unable to take to the skies.

“Delta people have sprung into action to provide the best possible care to customers already at the airport,” Ginny Elliott, Managing Director – LGA said this morning in a statement on Delta’s news blog.

The power outage occurred at 4:30 a.m. this morning, and Terminal C has not been fully functional since. Officials said they hope to have the terminal up and running by noon.

Power returned to the jet bridges at approximately 8:30 a.m. TSA checkpoints are operating.

The outage was caused by a contractor working at Terminal C who accidentally cut through two electrical feeder cables.
