Spring Break began as a way for hardworking students to ditch their books and worries and head south for the week, but the yearly migration of America’s youth has changed drastically the last few decades. Spring Break is now an escape for mature and young adults alike to seek warmth after a long and bitter winter (e.g. Polar Vortex). So where can you head in mid-March/early-April and where do you want to head? Discover incredible, fun-seeking options below for every winter escapee.
The New Class
If you’re a college freshman or sophomore, then you’re not heading to Cancun or Riviera Maya. Despite the lower drinking age, these sun-soaked havens do not allow adults under the age of 21 to check-in during the spring break periods, and many resorts limit the number of guests allowed in a room. Instead, head to the unofficial capital of Spring Break – Florida! Such sites as Panama City Beach, Daytona Beach, and the Keys welcome college students to their sandy beaches, and top companies like Victoria Secret, Banana Boat, and GEICO have sponsored events and give out free merchandise. MTV is also on hand to give someone their fifteen minutes. Sure, young college kids won’t be able to drink, but the excitement more than makes up for it.
The Graduating Class
You only have one or two more years before you enter the workforce and “the real world.” Make these last spring breaks count. With just an hour-and-a-half flight from Miami, the Cancun-Riviera Maya area is your adult playground. All-inclusive resorts bring you unlimited drinks, incredible food, pool and beach concierge service, and non-stop excitement. Many resorts host parties with swim-up bars, numerous pools, and wild nightclubs, and you’ll get it all for less. Enjoy a variety of experiences, food, and activities, and with most hotels not far from the Playa del Carmen shopping district, the theme/marine parks, and the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, you’ll never get bored.
The Mature Class
You’re ready to let loose, and while you like to reminisce about your youth, you don’t necessarily want to relive it. A cruise is your spring break answer. Spa treatments, exquisite drinks, and quiet moments pamper you into a state of immense serenity, and with Norwegian Cruise Lines’ new all-inclusive packages, you get the same great service and amenities as going to an all-inclusive resort but without the sordid behavior. Departing from New York, Florida, the Caribbean, and even Europe, the myTime ship Breakaway and other magnificent vessels provide a relaxing retreat with incredible shopping, hopping clubs, and delectable delights.
