Hanalei Pier, Kauai

Originally wood, the pier was built in 1892 so Kauai could take shipments of goods from the mainland United States. In 1921, the state passed legislature allowing for $25,000 to be spent upgrading to concrete. In 1979, the pier was added to the National Register of Historic Places in Hawaii.
