Hilton Los Cabo reopens; Marriott goes uptown with a new Beverly Hills property; and Starwood’s Luxury Collection adds four properties in Europe. Here are this week’s property updates.
Hilton Worldwide announced the reopening of Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort. The resort closed last year due to the devastation of Hurricane Odile but welcomed new visitors after phase one of its multi-million renovation was completed.
“A beloved seaside retreat for more than a decade, we are proud to reopen our doors with a far superior product and the exceptional service standards our guests know and love,” said Tim Booth, general manager, Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort, in a statement. “Thanks to our devoted on-property team and partners at Hilton, we are thrilled to welcome guests back to relax, play and discover the endless beauty of sunny Los Cabos, Mexico.”
Phase one included three new food and beverage concepts and improvements to the resort’s existing El Meson and Madero dining venues.
Phase one renovations also include a new local hat shop and a redesign of the resort landscape with private cabanas and hammocks. Subsequent phases will include La Vista Club, a hotel-within-a-hotel with 65 rooms and suites, with private facilities and complimentary culinary creations for its members, extended balconies, custom-made furnishings, and marble baths; a new spa concept with a Zen Garden and Movement Studio; the opening of Vela, a fine dining conception with aspirational world cuisine inspired by Mexican accents; and an enhanced Cabo Kids Camp.
Hotel News Resource reports the new Beverly Hills Marriott debuted this month after two years and a $26-million renovation. Formerly the Crowne Plaza Beverly Hills, the full-service hotel boasts 260 completely renovated rooms, including 10 suites, and panoramic views of Century City, Downton L.A., and the Hollywood Hill. It is located with easy access to Rodeo Drive and Beverly Hills Triangle, and is the only full-service Marriott Hotel in the Beverly Hills and the surrounding area.
Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide opened The Westin San Jose, a historic 171-room hotel that underwent an extensive renovation of guestrooms, corridors, lobby, and public space. The hotel offers authentic Italian dining at II Fornaio and is located steps from San Jose McEnergy Convention Center and San Jose State University.
Starwood announced four additions in Europe to its Luxury Collection, including the Augustine in Prague (opened June 30); Caress in Bodrum, Turkey (opened July 1); Falisia in Portopiccolo, Italy (opening July 18); and Grand Hotel River Park, Bratislava (opening August 1). Augustine, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Prague is near the city’s UNESCO World Heritage Site, adjacent to the Wallenstein Garden and within walking distance of the Prague Castle and Charles Bridge. The Caresse, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Bodrum has a private yacht for excursions, a white sand beach, and an overwater deck for small and large celebrations. Falisia, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Portopiccolo has a private beach with an infinity pool, a beach club, and a marina. Grand Hotel River Park, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Bratislava is situated 10 minutes on foot from the old city center and on the river bank of the Danube.
Sheraton will introduce its iconic W brand in Costa Rica with the W Costa Rica—Reserva Conchal. The beachside property will feature 151 guestrooms, be located near the award-winning Robert Trent Jones II golf course, and is slated to debut in 2019.
Sheraton Hyderabad Hotel opened this week and is Starwood’s 44th hotel in Indian.
IHG announced the sale of its InterContinental Hong Kong for $938 million. The new owners, Supreme Key Capital Partners, plan an 18-month renovation, which is scheduled to begin in 2017. IHG retains a 37-year management contract with a 10-year extension option, and the hotel is revered as one of the world’s most famous, earning a five-star rating from Forbes Travel Guide, hosting three Michelin-starred restaurants, and offering panoramic views of Victoria Harbour and Hong Kong’s skyline.
IHG announced plans for a new Holiday Inn Express hotel in Bangkok’s Chinatown, Yaowarat. The hotel is scheduled to open in 2017.
Travel Weekly reports that SLS Hotels’ parent company, SBE, has secured funding for its newest venture, SLS New York. The property is now scheduled to open in 2016, though it was originally announced in 2012 with a completion date of 2013.

Marriott international added Delta Hotels and Resorts to its Marriott.com and app, including information about the 37 new properties In Marriott’s portfolio. Delta Hotels and Resorts are located in 30 Canadian cities.
JW Marriott Hotels and Resort announced that JW Marriott Los Cabos Beach Resort & Spa will open in Fall 2015. The 299-room beachfront resort is located in the upscale community of Puerto Los Cabos and will have an open-air lobby, expansive infinity pools, seven restaurants, a 21,000-square-foot world-class spa and fitness center, and a beach club.
Within the next three years, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. will be opening nine new Aloft hotels in Texas. Aloft Collage Station will be located just minutes from Texas A&M University campus and is slated to open in August 2015. Scheduled to open in 2016 are Aloft Houston Downtown, Aloft Austin Northwest, Aloft Richardson, and Aloft Dallas Love Field. Scheduled to open in 2017 are Aloft Houston West, Aloft Austin Downtown, and Aloft Arlington Entertainment District. Finally, Aloft Shenandoah-Near the Woodlands is aiming for a 2018 opening.
