Ziplining, kayaking, and guided hikes are all fantastic ways to experience the rainforest.

One of the most stunning beaches on an island full of them, Dickenson Bay is a favorite among both tourists and locals thanks to its amazing views and relaxed ambiance. Its pristine shores and calm waters makes it great for all ages and a perfect snorkeling spot. And there are plenty of dining options around if you’ve been driving for hours and need to fuel up.
Turn Up at Turners Beach
Turners Beach has one of the best atmospheres in Antigua. Stop by Rumbus Beach for a lively crowd and casual eats or enjoy the great company and excellent food at Jacqui O’s rustic fine dining spot. The kids will fall in love with Swash Water Park nearby.
Explore St. John’s
Both Antigua’s rural and city roads offer great views. And in the capital town of St. John’s, the rainbow-hued neighborhoods create a colorful atmosphere like no other. While in town, stop by the farmer’s market, local boutiques, museums, galleries, and snack shops. Plus, see if you can spot the VC Bird monument, in honor of Antigua’s first prime minister.
Watch a Cricket Match
Antigua’s cricket obsession is far from unusual as a former British colony. Their state-of-the-art stadium has hosted many nail-biting international cricket matches! If your island getaway lines up with cricket season, heading to Vivian Richards Stadium is a must.
Visit Devil’s Bridge National Park
A spectacular natural limestone rock arch, Devil’s Bridge is the result of waves crashing over the coast over thousands of years forming a bridge. Natural blowholes shoot ocean water into the sky, making it one of Antigua’s most iconic natural wonders. Wear sturdy shoes to climb along the rocks as you scout for crabs and other marine creatures, but crossing the bridge itself is not advised. Sunset and sunrise are both popular times to visit, but it’s beautiful any time of the day.
Have Lunch at The Outhouse
A rustic, eclectic atmosphere and panoramic water views pair perfectly with famous ribs at this lunch spot within the Pineapple Beach Club. Before you leave, partake in The Outhouse’s revered tradition of creating a wooden sign that will be hung along with the thousands of guests who have come before you.
Visit Antigua’s Donkey Sanctuary
You’re likely to see both domesticated and wild donkeys throughout your road trip, but at Antigua’s Donkey Sanctuary (part of the Antigua & Barbuda Humane Society), you’ll have the chance to safely interact with these rescued cuties. Admission is free, but you also have the chance to “adopt” your own donkey to help provide it food and medical care. Unfortunately, you don’t get to take it back on the plane with you.
Catch a Festival
Depending on when you visit Antigua, you may be able to catch Antigua Restaurant Week, Surfing Week, Seafood Festival, or the biggest festival of all, Antigua Carnival! Enjoy the local vendors (natural soap-making is a crowd favorite) and of course, food stalls.
